Ever since I rode my first rickshaw in India, I have always wanted to learn how to drive one. Thanks to my good friend Ashenavi of Eritrea, this dream came true. I am now a proficient rickshaw driver, ready to work the streets of Khartoum.
Since I am experienced at riding motorcycles, my learning curve for rickshaw riding was definitely reduced. However, since in a rickshaw you shift with your hand and not your foot, I managed to stall more times than I would like to admit. All in all, it was a lot of fun and a great experience. Now I know that if all my endeavours fail, I can always fall back on becoming a rickshaw driver in Sudan. Check out the video below to see how my first lesson went.
