Advice For First Time Travelers: There can be a temptation to research and almost over-plan your time in a new destination – but don’t be afraid to stay open to serendipity. Whether that means asking a local for recommendations of where to eat one night, or saying yes when a fellow traveler invites you to join them on a side-trip you hadn’t expected to take – sometimes the best travel moments happen when you let go of your plan.
About Candace | CandaceRoseRardon.com
In her own words: The inspiration behind my blog is summed up in its title, which is borrowed from a quote by Robert Louis Stevenson: “I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.” When I first read the quote, I especially loved that last phrase – to me, the great affair is that of opening yourself up to the world and the adventure it offers.
That is exactly the mission of my blog – I want to inspire my readers to fall in love with the world. To push past their fears, take risks, and explore life outside their comfort zone. To experience the incredible beauty our world has to offer and to bring that beauty back to their everyday world.
I strive to make travel easier for my readers in two ways – through inspiration and information. Inspiration is a huge focus for me; I always aim to share stories, photos, and sketches that transport people around the world and infuse them with a sense of adventure and possibility. I try to make the world a little smaller and more connected through my own stories of serendipitous connections on the road.
