About Dan Norris | TheStupidForeigner.com
In his own words: I left my country just after my 19th birthday by moving to Canada for a working holiday. From there I moved to Japan and started to explore East Asia, and for the last 5 years I’ve given up any kind of full time work to travel almost full time.
I travel very slowly, usually spending months or years in each country to get to know the culture and a real feel for what life is like there.
My greatest skill or “expertise” is spending as little money as possible. Over 9 years I learned to get my budget down to as little as $5 per day, while still enjoying my travels to the fullest. I don’t think this style of travel is for everyone, but I do think everyone has something to learn from it.
Unfortunately I don’t really have any official cheesy motto (yet) but I always tell people to spend cheap and live (or travel) rich. I love being an example of this as I usually see 4 or 5 cities and have a month worth of amazing cultural experiences for what many people spend in a single day!
